I realized that, for that moment in time, life was utterly perfect! At first I was sad that life is no longer so perfect. But then I started to think, if it was perfect before, it can be perfect again!
I think that is how life goes. Sometimes it is hard to see the sunshine, sometimes things are just ok, sometimes things are pretty good...and sometimes, we have perfect moments, even perfect days, weeks, months...That's not to say that there isn't some funk thrown in, but to be able to look back and say "Yes, that was perfect" Oh what a blessing!
Then I started thinking about other perfect moments I have had. And I realized there have been many!
I remember playing under the tables at my mom's college and then snuggling up to my favorite stuffed animal with a pillow and blanket and dozing contentedly to the sound of murmuring voices and the "click click" of keyboards.
I remember walking with my Opi and splashing in puddles together.
I remember going for long walks and bike rides with mom in Germany and vising the Army base when it was still there.
I remember taking a first snow walk around midnight with mom, Omi and Opi
I remember singing the part of Lilly in the Secret Garden...perfectly!
And I remember the day Patrick was born...and so many days since then...him laughing, smiling, crawling, standing, saying actual words...
All these beautiful perfect moments.
And even when there are things going on in our lives that suck a bit, we can still have perfect moments.
But sometimes...sometimes it is more than just a moment. Sometimes every aspect of life is just perfect - a whole time in our lives that is pretty darn perfect. I think this is probably a bit more rare, but not impossible. I know it isn't impossible because I have experienced it. And I know in my heart that I will experience it again. Sure, it will ebb and flow, as all things do. That just means it is meant to return....more than once, more than twice...
Until then, I will just enjoy all those perfect moments...
Aww thank you sweety. I think I needed this.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for you to have this perspective! I think I will steal this concept of listing perfect moments; we all should take time to remember these things and not dwell on the regrets.
